Why am I confused?

This month’s theme – why am I so confused?

If you are like me, every situation and challenge seems to present a range of choices, all carrying different feelings. Being human can be confusing.

What helps me understand this confusion is the possibility that we are not one singular mind or essence struggling for clarity, but a composition of many different parts that have been formed through our personal experiences, culture and family history.

These parts all have their own opinions and feelings, as would any room full of human beings. This concept could be called ‘shadow work’ under Jungian psychotherapy, or ‘parts work’ under the Internal Family Systems protocols designed by Richard Schwartz. Shamanic teachings also recognise this splitting – both at the soul level and in terms of our wounded core beliefs.

The essence I take from all these teachings is that we have 3 aspects of self:

The true self – I see this fundamentally as soul essence, higher self, superconscious, or whatever term you prefer. It is the part of us that is connected to Spirit and is eternal, a source of love, truth, clarity, healing and wisdom. There is no confusion here.

Some teachers suggest that this part cannot be wounded, but, personally, I’m not so sure. If this is soul essence, then I believe it can be depleted and aspects may leave this place of truth and wisdom until healed and re-integrated.

Wounded parts – these are the exiled parts of our essence that hold limiting beliefs along with difficult feelings and behaviours. They may feel unwelcome or unacceptable to the world around.

Protectors – I have heard these called a range of names like managers, loyal soldiers or gremlins. Their role is to keep the wounded parts safe and largely hidden from the world. They can use a whole range of limiting behaviours to avoid exposure of the wounded self, including addiction, distraction, avoidance, obsession, compliance, even illness.

These coping strategies may feel like a practical way to manage the parts of ourselves we judge unacceptable, but they only work for a while, if at all. The parts of ourselves that are judged as ‘less than’ in some way do not sit comfortably in exile – they can feel abandoned, shamed, angry.

Over time the wounds deepen and they need more extreme management to keep them locked away from the public eye. Eventually, they leak into our daily lives when we are under pressure, creating a confused and muddled expression of self. Their appearance may even be dramatic and seemingly ‘out of character’ to those who know us.

This can be a challenging experience but also potentially cathartic. Once revealed, it is possible to acknowledge and validate these wounded parts, taking steps to re-integrate them back into the true self. You might consider this the Tower card in Tarot, when everything comes crashing down but with that comes the chance for a fresh start.

I journeyed shamanically with the intention of finding a helpful perspective on this and was shown a series of 3 Russian dolls. The first represented the protectors, the face we present to the world. They can give the illusion of stability and ease, like the swan floating serenely on the surface of the water, but actually are working hard underneath to maintain the illusion.

The second doll hidden underneath was the wounded part, hiding behind the protectors and largely invisible to the outside world until deeply triggered.

The third part was the true self. Interestingly, this was the most hidden and the smallest of the 3 dolls. When I enquired with Huascar, the guardian of the underworld, about this I got that this was true, that as a species we live more in persona and protector than in our true essence. If you like numbers, the average percentages I was shown were 45% for the protectors, 35% for the wounded self and 20% for our true self.

That is a pretty sobering thought, that we might show only a fraction of our true selves.

The solution to this confusion and muddle? In the underworld I was shown the 3 Russian dolls separated out, each standing shoulder to shoulder with the other.

Historical harm needs to be unravelled gently in stages but, as a goal, we should try to let the world see all of us, with transparency in each moment about how we are feeling. Wounded parts and protectors are still valid parts of us and need to be accepted with compassion.

When the loving and gentle eyes of consciousness shine on an unhealed part of us, then what was previously hidden can be seen and deep healing can begin. The wounded parts can express themselves in their healed state and the protectors can go back to what they were doing before they took on this role. Confusion and competing beliefs can be replaced with alignment and clarity.

Horizontal relationships

This month’s theme – Horizontal relationships

The concept of vertical and horizontal relationships was created by Psychotherapist Alfred Adler and has been brought back into the public eye through the modern Japanese bestseller ‘The courage to be disliked’ by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga.

A horizontal relationship is one where both parties have equal power and relate from a place of mutual respect and authority.

A vertical relationship is where one party is deemed to have more power or wisdom than another. An example would be the relationship between parent and child, doctor and patient or teacher and student. It might feel natural to assume these relationships need to be vertical ones but they work best when there is a mutual respect and sharing.

I want to focus on one area within this subject – horizontal and vertical relationships in spiritual and therapeutic circles. I have seen the healed and wounded states of these relationships and I’m aware of the delicacy of my own position with clients and even as the author of these newsletters.

This subject is close to my heart because I briefly experienced an extreme version of a vertical spiritual relationship many years ago and I was amazed by how alluring it was, even as discerning as I felt I was at the time.

The course in question was run by a leader with great charisma and absolute certainty about his beliefs, a self-proclaimed child prodigy. His teachings were an amalgamation of work across the ages, he claimed, so it felt safe to trust his wisdom and experience.

As I got drawn in deeper I was shown a very duality based spiritual world, where people were either disciplined or lazy and where the teacher was the only one who could help us reach the next ‘level’ of love.

This was clearly a vertical relationship, where he felt superior to us and would help us become superior to others. Written like this, it sounds obvious that I should have sussed it out sooner, but these dynamics were tempting and appealed to the part in me that wanted to be ‘special’ and expected ‘specialness’ to be the reward at the end of a long road of effort and dedication.

It was an extreme experience, but there are more subtle aspects that can ensnare us, even within a therapy session or on a retreat or training course.

There are many warning signs I look out for, including within myself as I write these newsletters. I am not trying to show any special access to wisdom, just my capacity to ask interesting questions, to stimulate curiosity without necessarily offering solutions. In doing so I try to relate with you horizontally, and I hope it feels that way to you too.

So how do we recognise vertical spiritual relationships? Here are my list of warning signs, do you recognise any of them in your life?

  1. The teacher claims to have a gift, a better access to Spirit and the truth than you and their teachings are not open to challenge or the possibility of error.
  2. Their opinions claim to be based on timeless, possibly hidden, teachings that ‘normal’ people can’t access.
  3. There is no scope for your own opinions, experience, training or intuition. If you suggest something you might even be told that you have problems with authority or are channelling spirits.
  4. This rejection of your own sense of truth pushes you to concede your autonomy and personal values. You give your truth over to the leader / teacher / therapist.
  5. Sexual boundaries can be crossed.
  6. Extreme financial commitment is needed as proof of your dedication. You might be told that if you would spend money on, for example, life saving surgery, why not on your own spiritual development? If you question the cost you are told you have a problem with scarcity consciousness and your root chakra.
  7. There are promises of hierarchical spiritual rewards that lead to personal salvation.
  8. You might be taught that those who don’t follow this path will suffer in some great day of reckoning or global separation.
  9. Suffering and sacrifice are encouraged as a pathway to God or healing
  10. Members are expelled for non-compliance as an example to any waverers.

The relationship between client and therapist can feel inherently safer than being part of a spiritual movement, but risks still apply. There may be some clearer boundaries but the therapist inherently holds some core power and must use it to empower the client to find their own true path of healing rather than impose one on them. This helps keep the relationship horizontal, with the therapist in support of the client’s chosen objectives and healing process rather than in control of it.

The therapist must tread a delicate, nuanced, path and be careful not to drop into ‘rescuer’ or ‘director’. It is a constant challenge to ensure the client grows to feel their own wisdom and power, not the therapists.

This month’s theme – ease, challenge and suffering.

The idea came to me as a theme one recent night. A full moon brought the foxes out into the fields around us and our dog worked herself up into such a frenzy that she threw up all over the carpet. Our daughter developed a fever which kept us up some of the night, the toilet broke and the winds blew my new veggie cloches clean across the garden.

These were small challenges in the general scheme of things, but I could really feel the close relationship between the ease of that day and the challenge of that night.

I drew a Tarot card and got Temperance – the essence of moderation and finding balance between the energies of ease and difficulty. It asked us to explore how we keep in balance when we are faced by the inevitable challenges of life. How do we meet the easy and the difficult with equanimity?

I journeyed shamanically to the mythic and was shown the scales of balance, with the suggestion that planet earth remains in balance when there is an appropriate presence of ease and difficulty. The sweetness of the human existence depends upon the contextual canvas they bring and how we relate to them.

I explored whether this balance point required an identical match of the two energies and was told ‘no’, that the Universe, or at least our part of it, had a slight tendency towards light and the expansion of consciousness, so a tendency towards ‘love’.

Each is essential to the other but, without undue influence, our soul’s journey should take us closer to God and Spirit, not further away.

This reminds me of the Buddha’s teaching, that the route of all suffering is desire, described under the three headings of greed and desire, ignorance and delusion, hatred and destructive urges. When we overcome our shadow desires, we can transcend suffering.

The problems of the last 200,000 years, which we could call ‘recent history’ in the wider picture, started when one person saw the homestead of their neighbour and wanted it. The age of the ‘taker’ had begun, a still active period of history where the powerful take from the powerless and have priority access and influence to goods and services, information, medicine and legal support.

When I asked Spirit in my journey what would bring this situation back into natural balance I was told the energy of ‘equality’. This makes sense to me, the full rotation of our species back to that original place of harmony when we all lived in right relationship with each other, when we shared the abundance of nature with moderation, taking what we needed and no more. A return to these values would mean a return to love and a world of peace where neighbours live in harmony with each other, without envy or the shadows of desire.

So, with another nod to Buddhist teachings, if we can accept that challenge and difficulty is a natural and necessary part of the human experience, then perhaps we can learn to embrace it for the gifts it might contain, meeting our challenges and our ease with equanimity. How much more gentle might life feel if our difficulties could be seen not as karmic punishment or penance for our low intrinsic value, but as simply the nuts and bolts of life on planet earth? It’s not personal, it’s just life.

In my small world, our carpet is clean again and our border collie more relaxed. My daughter is well, the veggie cloches are back on, and we have a super new set of drain clearing rods.

These are minor issues for sure, but I feel it is important to celebrate, with deep gratitude, the privilege of my relatively safe and abundant life. I also take action to honour the vision that, one day soon, this will be available to us all.

Where have our guides gone?

Resonators

I have had several requests this year for bulk orders so that individuals can buy through a more local distributor or as part of a co-operative. It was wonderful last month to supply 80 packs to a co-op based around New Jersey in the US. I can offer discounts beyond the published prices for big orders as the postage costs are so much lower, so if this idea appeals to you, please do get in touch.

Meantime, this month’s special offer is an extension of last month’s. If you buy 2 packs or more of resonators before the end of Wednesday 13th March, I will give you access to the narrated version of the Quantum K experience, worth £11, for free. It’s a powerful and practical way to access the healing potential of this system, away from your computer screen.

This months theme – where have our guides gone?

I was tuning into a client’s spiritual support group recently and asked about the composition of her ‘Higher-Self panel’. It can be interesting to establish how many guides each of us are working with and what their gifts are. I was intrigued to find she had none. There was still plenty of support available through the angelic realm and higher, but no guides as such.

That night, I checked how many guides I had supporting me and found, likewise, there were none. If this is a wider pattern rather than just a coincidence, why might this be?

To understand what might be at play here, we need to explore the wider picture and where we may all be heading.

If we look at the ancient prophesies, we see that we are in the era where human consciousness is expected to expand into its highest potential, where the veils between heaven and earth become thin, perhaps even merge. The bible refers to this in terms that can be read as apocalyptic but also potentially as a time of great transition and potential. in the Bible, Matthew 24:39 references the end times, and I was especially interested in the section which says:

‘the sun will be darkened,

and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from the sky,

and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

If I look at this shamanically, the sun is seen as a symbol of Great Spirit. If the sun is darkened, does this mean that we will lose that connection with the externalised version of God? And then ‘the stars will fall from the sky’ as part of the shake up of the heavens.

What do the stars represent in this imagery? When I journeyed shamanically I saw those stars as individual souls, and when I looked into the darkness of the night sky with no sun or moon, I saw a beautiful vision, like a meteorite shower, of bright specks of starlight coming down to the earth and landing here. The stars falling from the sky was a sign of new possibilities, not disaster.

Right next to me, a version of myself, a part of my oversoul, landed and I was invited to merge with that essence. This felt like a real gift, parts of my soul that previously sat in Spirit came into my body, here to help guide me from within, not without.

This does feel aligned with many ancient prophesies and some new age beliefs, that this new era for our species will not be driven through the appearance of one prophet but through the transition of all of us into a higher place of consciousness and love, call that ‘ascension’ if you wish.

Returning to my original question, if our guides are stepping back for some or all of us, what does this mean as part of the bigger picture? I can’t see any obvious benefit in excluding a counsel of wise elders, so I assume that there is some energetic need for our spiritual oversoul to contain only the seed of our essence.

Perhaps this stepping back of our guides frees our oversoul energy to make a clean descent into our embodied selves. It might also allow a purer connection between the part of us that sits in Spirit and the part of us embodied in the physical realm.

This deeper connection might also explain why we need the new consciousness grid that I have referred to in previous newsletters. It might be acting as a bridge between the high vibrations of Spirit and the density of our embodied selves.

In shamanic terms, the soul journey is held in the north and the physical experience held in the south, so a consciousness grid of new beliefs and ethics might sit in the middle in the west, enhancing the spiritual and physical experiences that sit above and below.

This is just my sense. Please feel into it yourself and if you feel inspired, perhaps ask your Higher Self if it is appropriate, and in the highest interests of all beings, for more of your soul energy in Spirit to come in to the version of you embodied here. Is it time to call in more of your soul so you may be guided and inspired from a deeper wellspring of internal wisdom?

With love

This months theme – living with miracles

I am constantly amazed, and slightly bemused, by how Spirit gives me the inspiration behind each newsletter. Sometimes it is through car alarms and radios going off in the middle of the night, this time it was through a board game.

I was playing a children’s game with my daughter called ‘outfoxed’. The aim is to find the fox that took the pie before it gets back to its den. My turn came and all 3 dice showed the symbol I wanted first time – with a 50 /50 chance on each that is an overall likelihood of 1 in 8. A lucky start! Next turn I did it again, and I started to talk to my 5-year-old about how unlikely that was – 1 chance in 64.

I did it 3 more times in a row (my mental arithmetic was long since overwhelmed but the odds on that happening were extremely rare).

My sense is that I was being invited to explore a world where we can live beyond probability, norms, averages and likelihoods. In this world, we energise the outcome we desire rather than the one most likely to happen, and in doing so open the door to regular and genuine miracles.

This is very shamanic in essence – walking the path of certainty – with the idea that there only needs to be one thread in a thousand that gives us what we want, we just need to make sure we grab it….

This is how I believe we can defeat mathematical odds:

1. Deny the power of probability.

I’m sure you have heard phrases like:

– ‘You should expect to slow down at your age’

– ‘Your marriage has a 50/50 chance of ending in divorce’

– ‘With your family history, you are at greater risk of disease… ’

– ‘Love is hard to find once you hit a certain age’

If you sense yourself being limited by statistics, notice it and say ‘I reject that energy, I am not a number!’

2. Set a clear intention

I believe there are guidelines that grease the wheels of miraculous creation:

a) Your intended miracle should not be at the expense of anyone else.

b) It must clearly be for your higher good and all beings at some level

c) If possible, keep it in essence, not exact form, Choose ‘feeling abundant’ over ‘winning £1 million’.

3. Clear any blocks to that intention

Our limiting beliefs, family dynamics, culture and personal history can all influence our creative power, as can the cruelty of societal oppression. Use all your healing tools – Quantum K and my book if you wish – so your intention is not limited by unhealed energies that are within your control.

4. Tag your intended outcome

This is the main aspect I want to explore. When I journeyed shamanically to ask about miracles I was shown a series of identical boxes, each with different contents inside, but one was filled with my miracle.

They all looked the same so, to avoid my miracle being mixed up and lost in the chaos of life, I tagged it with a red ribbon and then surrendered it back to Spirit. In some way that I can’t fully explain, the ribbon seemed to help Spirit nurture the intention and bring it to fruition.

I have had many such miracles, some exciting, some very mundane, but all linked by the extreme improbability of them happening. I have come to expect the unlikely; in some strange paradox ‘extreme coincidence’ is my normal. This is perhaps the essence of synchronicity in action, following the path set by the extremely unlikely when it shows up.

As an example, years into my own fertility journey, we had to question whether we should continue putting in the mental and emotional energy it required. My partner performed a ceremony handing our dreams over to the angelic realm, asking for a sign that this path was still aligned with our highest good. My partner loves frogs, so she asked to be shown frogs as a positive sign, the frog being equivalent to the red ribbon I was shown in the mythic.

Several weeks later, she walked into a friend’s home and saw a drawing of a frog on the wall and a frog mask over a bed. A few days afterwards, there was a toy frog sitting on a bath in another home.

The momentum was building. The final message came in March when we were all playing ‘pass the parcel’ at a party and the music stopped at the end of the game with my partner holding the package. She peeled off the layer of newspaper to reveal a calendar… (a bit bemusing as we were well into the year by then) …and as she turned to the next month, April, there was a special animal ‘ribbeting’ up at us.

We conceived in April. The odds against all those coincidences were stacked against us, and yet, just like with the throwing of the dice, somehow it happened. It was our miracle.

So, if this feels right, please give to Spirit the miracles you desire. Ask for a sign to show you they are coming and surrender to the magic and the mystery.

With love

Andrew

Writing your own story

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of mainstream media telling me what I should think, and what I should be afraid of next. I have even had to cancel my TV licence having seen what the BBC are doing to establish an agreed global narrative of what is the ‘truth’ and the ‘science’. Trusted News Initiative.

We only have to look at how this operated during the pandemic to see how dangerous it is when all mainstream news outlets share exactly the same narrative, when beliefs ridiculed as conspiracy theories at the time were then proven true a few months later. It’s inconvenient for me to leave the BBC, but I have to be true to my values, and if enough people defund the system, then genuine change can happen.

Connected to this theme, I want to share a personal story this month, around my daughter’s school. It is the only alternative education system available in Bristol, founded on Steiner/Waldorf principles, where play is honoured, children’s unique learning styles prioritised and nature celebrated. Learning is fun and technology left at the gate.

This model is endemic in many European systems with proven benefits, but here in the UK our government pushes for teacher led formal education from a very young age, with regular assessments and high expectations. I suspect the goal is to generate good employees, followers rather than free thinkers, so fundamental change is needed if we are to avoid our next generation being brainwashed as mine was. I do really respect the amazing teachers in mainstream education, they are so dedicated and compassionate, but I do believe they are suffocated by the demands of the system they work within.

Against that backdrop, we were all shocked when the trustees announced the school’s closure at the end of this academic year. Most of the parents grew up within this educational system, so are used to questioning what they are told by authority. Within a week, despite all the distractions of the holiday season, a working body of 50 parents were in place bringing their various expertise to marketing, fund raising, premises use, governance issues etc.

Before the ink on the closure announcement had fully dried, an alternative outcome was released by the parent body, a social media campaign had been established, accounts analysed, alternative financial models proposed, and a counter narrative launched with the mainstream media. All in 7 days.

It was extraordinary to watch and, whatever the final outcome, it shows what is possible when motivated and passionate people come together to share their expertise in a shared vision. If we could apply this level of energy more globally, what might be possible?

I journeyed shamanically to explore this dynamic. I was shown an image of planet earth from space splitting into two, not as a cell divides but as a serpent sheds its skin. I saw the old earth, uninhabited and barren of all but its most outdated energies and power systems, fading away into time and space.

I have read predictions of a new earth appearing, but have always resisted any idea that it would be there just for the ‘worthy’ or those who have ‘done the work’. I prefer this imagery where the new world emerges out of the old and all living beings go with it. There is no judgement or separation, just new beginnings and a new energetic grid holding its creative essence, as I discussed last month.

I love the imagery of a serpent shedding its skin. It means several things to me:

First of all, shamanically, serpent holds the space of the south, the literal, the here and now and the physical. This suggests a shift into a new practical reality, not just a place where we feel differently, but where we look and behave differently with new models of well-being.

I also see the serpent shedding its skin as an act of community and aligned effort. As humans we also shed our skins, but our cells do so individually, without an obvious rhythm or ritual. In contrast, a snake works to a cycle where new skin cells form concurrently ready to emerge as one, releasing the old cells in a single action, leaving a complete but outdated version of itself behind.

I can see a time when groups of people independently but concurrently say ‘enough’ and behaviour changes around the globe, seemingly in a co-ordinated effort but held by threads of sacred timing and energy, not some big campaign on social media. The energy of this momentum becomes irresistible and the old skin of outdated power centres falls away in one complete piece.

My final sense here is of what exactly needs to be shifted. Do you feel that your core values are represented in the power centres or the decision makers that are meant to support you? Do any governments, legacy media outlets or large corporations truly represent YOU anymore? I’m not saying we can thrive without governance and structure, but I can see a divergence between ‘us’ the people and ‘them’ the symbols of power. That layer of skin is ready for shedding so a new model of governance can emerge underneath, one that truly represents us all and our shared values. Can you feel that?

In my journey, I asked where we all stand in the shedding of our planetary skin. I was shown an image of the complete new skin sitting ready under the surface of the old one, with the old skin starting to split under the head ready to be shed. I really wish I could put a date on this, when all that I have been shown recently might come to pass, but I just don’t feel that that information is available to us, we just have to hold the vision that this change to fairness and compassion will happen and then take whatever action we can to make it a reality.

Spiritual support for a paradigm shift

Earlier this month I suggested ways to help us each make a positive influence on the world around us. These are important, but are fundamentally in opposition to the ways we are governed. If we are to live in a world of ease – where community, equality and peace are natural states of being for us all – then there needs to be a paradigm shift.

This shift needs to occur within us as human beings so that a more loving world can be created from a new resonance, and any corporations or governments that operate from different value systems will find the tide flowing against them. They will have to change to survive.

A key issue I see with humanity currently is our capacity to accept an authoritarian value system over our own. In many ways, this is a survival mechanism, a desire to align with whoever holds the power to avoid being rejected, often described as ‘fawning’ or ‘befriending’. This can lead to a ‘hive mind’ where individuals form and adhere to the group’s central beliefs.

You’ve probably also heard of the controversial Milgram Experiment’ where  people were prepared to electrocute a test subject in another room to the point of extreme suffering just because a lab technician in a white coat told them to do so.

For me, this capacity to give our moral power away is the barrier to a complete consciousness shift. The strength of our fear response means we can be quick to follow anyone who says ‘blame them’ or ‘do this and we will survive’ without listening to that internal voice of love and nuance. I believe human beings are awakening slowly, but what will it take for a paradigm shift where a majority of us say ‘no’ to this duality thinking, right and wrong, them and us, more is better etc?

To find the answer, I believe we must look to the work of pioneers like Rupert Sheldrake and his theories of morphic resonance and the morphogenetic field. He proposes that the way our cells express themselves is only partially determined by genetics, more by an energetic blueprint that sits outside of ourselves.

This is a living, evolving, field that holds memory and instinct, and can explain how a school of fish and a murmuration of starlings can move as one, and how animals naturally learn as a species from an individual discovery.

There are morphic fields for us as individuals, (wounds to which can make us ill) fields for our families (which is why family constellation healing works) for cultures (why we might have a natural affinity with the traditions of our own land) and for our species (which is why generation after generation share similar core values).

The gentle evolution of morphic fields can explain why our children seem to adapt to modern technology so much quicker than we did and also the Flynn effect, where we are scoring higher on IQ tests than our ancestors did 100 years ago.

The issue for me is that although these energy fields are changing by the growth of each one of us as individuals, it is relatively slow, and some of the imprints of fear and blame are so embedded that they may be getting stronger rather than weaker. Something dramatic is needed if humanity is going to evolve quickly enough to meet lovingly all the existential threats that face us.

At this point, I would like to share how this newsletter inspiration came to me. In the past, I have been given nudges to ‘tune in’ through electronic equipment behaving unusually, so when my alarm clock started playing the radio at a random time in the night, there was a clue then that something wanted my attention.

Unfortunately, I simply turned it off and forget about it. 2 days later, a smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night for no reason. I changed the battery. A few days later, another smoke alarm went off in the early hours of the morning. I was out of batteries so I simply took the battery out and left it. I still wasn’t ‘listening’. Finally, as the message clearly wasn’t getting through to me, our car alarm went off at 1am. We all woke with a start but there was no obvious reason for it. I finally understood that someone or something wanted my attention.

I immediately tuned in and journeyed shamanically to the underworld. I was shown fields of energy around the planet, in an array of vibrant colours and geometrical designs. Amongst these established structures, I could see the skeleton, for want of a better word, of a new energy field that was anchored across the world through pillars that seemed to emerge from existing sacred sites.

This grid is not yet on line, just pulsing occasionally, but showed to be fundamentally complete and my sense is that it will herald the paradigm shift we need, a revolution in humanity’s consciousness rather than an evolution. It represents the opportunity for a rebirth into a golden age, the fulfilment of the prophecies of many indigenous peoples, for example, the ‘pachacutti’ to the Peruvian shaman or the ‘Powateoni’ to the Hopi elders.

What will spark this grid into life? In my journey, I was shown a flare from our sun, an energy spark powerful enough to light up the new consciousness field and alter our collective instincts in a moment. This would create a tipping point for our species where we might finally unite in shared global values of peace and equality.

I am curious as to whether such a solar flare would impact on our technology – might a rise in consciousness coincide with a reduction in our reliance on technology and the internet? We will see. I have looked up current solar activity on the internet and found that Solar cycle 25 is more powerful than expected and could peak any time now, not 2025 as originally predicted. Could this be relevant? Or could change come from higher than usual solar winds?

This is just what I saw in my journey and with my dowsing. It may be metaphorical, it may not resonate with you, but it gives me hope that the difficulties we have living together in harmony as a species may be about to get easier.

I pray that this vision is accurate and that I live to see it manifest.

How can I make a difference?

Last month, I touched upon how spirituality requires action as well as good intentions. I want to dive deeper into this concept because this is a key question of our times. What can we do to help the world become a more loving place?

I will summarise the answers I received to this question through my shamanic journeying and dowsing. My perspective only has value if it resonates with you, so please take what you want from these words and no more.

There are 3 layers of personal action that showed to me, so 3 areas in which we can play our part for global change. I expect you can add many more examples, this is just my list to trigger deeper reflection:

1. Thoughtful personal living

– Gratitude for all we appreciate in our lives

– Practicing moderation

– A light impact on the planet, so a gentle use of the resources we have – emotional and spiritual as well as material.

– A light travel footprint

– Local food sourcing

– Knowing the ethical footprint of all purchases

– Prioritising personal self-care

– Deep connection with nature

– Working towards living in alignment with your value systems

– Kindness of words

2. Community presence

– Being a good neighbour, so reaching out beyond your nuclear family to the wider community

– Moving towards a way of living that celebrates and includes all children, not just your own. This requires a communal rather than competitive attitude to parenting, creating the ‘village’ needed to raise our children.

– Work that serves your community, considering how we can all collaborate in food growing, land sharing, child caring, play and personal development.

– Honouring your family lineage and culture and that of others. Living in a way that sees how different cultures can work together and share strengths to support the world in unity.

– Sharing your wisdom and experience, recognising the skills you have and making them available to others, whether practical, creative, spiritual or system changing.

3. Global influence

– Protest and non-compliance where necessary

– Charitable donations when possible

– Petitions

– Writing to corporations, politicians and other leaders where they do not fully represent your needs or values

– Prayer and vision holding, ensuring that the outcomes you energise are held loosely, thereby avoiding the risk of condensing what we cannot fully know or understand into a finite idea of what is good or bad, right or wrong.

The goal in these actions is to create a platform of energy that holds a space for the world we might wish to live in, which I would suggest for most of us is not the world as it currently exists.

When I journeyed shamanically, I was shown a fast flowing river, with the water representing the almost irresistible power of the current narratives of fear, greed, dogma, inequality and despair. People were rafting down the river, and in going with the current seeming to have a relatively managable experience. Others were resisting being swept down and were holding on to tree branches projecting from the bank.

I was shown that those trying to live with love and respect can only hold themselves on the edge of the torrent right now because it is hard to escape its power completely. This transitional place is a good opportunity to look for coalitions that celebrate our differences as strengths, not sources of fear.

Taking the imagery as a whole, it begs the question – what will it take for the majority of us to escape the powerful torrent of mainstream dynamics that tries to keep us trapped?

For me, the way out can only come when the torrent itself is stopped, so we can all climb out of that particular river and forge a new path of our own making. This means paradigm change, a shift beyond what our own loving compassion can achieve on its own. It needs a higher plan.

I have something exciting to share on this, but enough for now. I am going to break with normal traditions and send two newsletters this month, the final one in 2 weeks so we can finish the year on a note of optimism and potential. Please do watch your inbox.

What is my soul’s purpose?

Quantum K is now 15 years old and I’ve just realised that I have never put up the prices of any goods. I don’t want to collude with the system that keeps squeezing us, so I’ve decided to go against that narrative.

Until midnight Wednesday 15th November, I am going to repeat last months offer of a free extra set of resonators when you order two sets or more. I also want to make it practical for you to send your friends a set within their Christmas cards, so I’ll add 2 free sets to any orders of 6 sets or more. Just order as usual and I’ll add the extras by hand to qualifying orders.

This month’s theme – What is my soul purpose, why am I here?

I hear this question so many times. I feel it’s worth an exploration.

The main issue for me is not the answer to the question ‘why are we here?’ but an understanding of the part of us that needs to ask it. When we feel into our lives from the perspective of the soul, I believe what is asked of us is the expression of our true essence, living in love and harmony and exploring how this responds to the specific challenges of our lives.

We may have themes that we are here to experience, but they are all nuances that help add context to our journey.

The complexities arise when our minds and egos step in. As wonderful and essential as they are, they look to explore the differences between ourselves and other people, and how we might be ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than those around us.

Our minds can also look to solidify the soul’s journey into something tangible and measurable, with clear definitions of success and failure. This can obscure the simplicity of our soul’s desires.

Our minds also carry the wounds of our limiting belief systems, our family programmes and societal narratives.  If we have low self-esteem, we might look for some holy quest to validate our existence. We might set ourselves – and even achieve – a challenging goal, but it is unlikely to be enough to satisfy our underlying insecurities. External outcomes rarely do.

A guideline I follow is that if you need the validation of an achievement to prove your value, you are saying to Spirit that you are not already that person, that this value sits outside of you. This energy of ‘lack’ will then underpin your experiences. Even if you achieve your goals, success will not soothe the core insecurity that lies beneath.

When you uncover the truth of who you really are, free of all the false narratives that have informed your wounded mind, then you will no longer need to prove yourself. You will enjoy being in that natural heart space and will be more able to hold that power in all situations that seek you out, challenging though they may be.

In writing like this, I acknowledge the risk of getting caught in ‘spiritual bypassing – which is based upon the toxic positivity that everything is ‘just as it needs to be’, that love and a positive vision is all we need for the world to heal.

Author Andrew Harvey talks about sacred activism and ‘wise radical action in the world’. This is the challenge to all of us in a world that is full of hurt.

Yes, it helps to unlearn any untruths we have internalised and find a place of soulful love within, but that does not necessarily lead to a life of comfort and convenience. It may even create the opposite because the world is not aligned to love at the moment, so the more love you find inside the less you will collude with the cruelty of the world outside.

We should be outraged at what our species is doing to the world and each other; we should be brought to tears by the lack of compassion we see around us, and then take considered and informed action from the fire that is lit within us.

What changes are you prepared to make to express your love? Will you break rules where necessary? Will you accept inconvenience to follow what you believe in? Will you stand up for your core values and the rights of others? Can you do this while still loving yourself and honouring your own needs?

This question of the how loving spirituality should express itself is such a big one I will share more perspectives on this next time.
